Equal opportunities

Equal opportunities are defined as the right to equal access to life opportunities, including career opportunities. This includes in particular the prohibition of discrimination: No one should be restricted in their (professional) opportunities. Regardless of age, gender, sexual identity, religion, cultural background, disability or social origin.

Efforts concerning equal opportunities are an expression of democracy and the achievement of social justice.

The prohibition of discrimination is a part of the human rights.

Equal opportunities are enshrined in art. 3 para. 3 of the German Constitution (Grundgesetz).

Equality of opportunities is also regulated by legislations such as the Equal Treatment Act (AGG).
Discrimination can happen in the workplace as much as in everyday life.
