Mentoring programs for women in the natural sciences

> dynaMENT - Mentoring for Women in Natural Sciences

Mentoring promotes individual careers and networking on campus and beyond - the criteria and paths for a successful academic career are diverse. This is where professional mentoring can be very valuable. The program, which has existed since 2015, is aimed at both female doctoral students (doctorate program) and postdocs (advanced program), is mainly financed by DESY and the MIN Faculty Universität Hamburg, supported by the two clusters of excellence CUI: Advanced imaging of Matter and Quantum Universe. As well as the cooperation partners European XFEL, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI), Max-Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter, Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine and UKE Hamburg.

The program is the result of an innovative cooperation between the partners involved in the field of equality. The common goal is to increase the number of women at all levels of science. The English-language mentoring program is aimed at women* in scientific research who are striving for a career in science. The focus of the program is one-to-one mentoring, i.e. intensive, personal discussions with an experienced manager. In addition, dynaMENT supports the participants for one year in further planning and developing their careers with training, workshop, coaching and networking events.

> DESY is involved in the Helmholtz mentoring program for equal opportunities

The Helmholtz Association uses innovative approaches to promote men and women in all age groups who are pursuing a career in the natural sciences. One of the most important approaches is the promotion of women to executive level positions. The "Women in Leadership" program and the "Leadership Academy", which address different target groups, are part of this strategy. For more information visit the Helmholtz website.
